From the workshop rooms

What begins in a workshop can keep unfolding.

Volksuniversiteit Amsterdam · Fully booked

Creative Living Laboratory.

A fully booked edition of Creative Living Laboratory at Volksuniversiteit Amsterdam—and a reminder that the work can continue long after the session ends.

“Now I return to it from time to time. It can all unfold gently.”

Workshop participant · Translated from Dutch

Read the participant’s full reflection

“I wanted to thank you again for the lovely workshop last Tuesday. I find it fascinating what happens afterwards. During the workshop, something became very clear inside me: my self-portrait was really a part of myself that has been buried beneath all the caring I do.

There was this unmistakably bright-red person sitting comfortably on the sofa, well rested, relaxing after all kinds of creative activities. Someone who was entirely herself. There was no arguing with it: this was it, and this was what I needed to do.

At home, it startled me and I put the drawing away. Too much presence. Now I return to it from time to time. It can all unfold gently.

The background reminds me of the beautiful music you played for the receptionist exercise. In fact, the music I connected to a place—a hotel in the mountains overlooking a beautiful, quiet, living valley—has now become a driving force for me. That is where I find who I am.

In other words: a lot is happening. I might even start writing—just ‘nonsense’ about feelings, simply letting them exist.

So there is a whole story after the workshop: denying it, coming back to it, a little of this and a little of that. A whole process that keeps unfolding. I am actually curious about the others’ stories too. I’m sure there are some. I can even imagine people enjoying a follow-up along the lines of ‘How did things develop afterwards?’ I can easily imagine everyone coming back.

So, once again, thank you very much! Wishing you every success in everything you do, and lots of enjoyment along the way!

Warm wishes.”

Amsterdam · Nest Aquarel Atelier

A private masterclass. A spark to take home.

The private masterclass at Nest Aquarel Atelier in Amsterdam was another wonderful experience. Afterwards, this message arrived:

“I’m sure this experience will stay with her and give her a real push to explore her own creativity and start making things herself.

We’re very grateful for your warmth, your time, and such an inspiring experience.

Wishing you a wonderful rest of the summer!”

Festival postcards

A little spectacle. A lot to take home.

Venice Film Festival

Inside the circus of it all.

Jacobs & Herzberg went to the Venice Film Festival and happily indulged in the circus of it all: cinema, spectacle and the pleasure of being surrounded by people who live for stories.

Sitges Film Festival

Back among friends. And a few nightmares.

Another visit to Sitges: time with industry friends, a beautiful lunch and some suitably spooky films. After last year’s honourable mention for SAUNA at Woman in Fan, it was a joy to be back.

This autumn · Feature films in development

From festival inspiration back to the page.

This autumn, Iris is turning that inspiration into writing, developing her feature film projects SAUNA, A Highly Suspicious Connection and Everything I Didn’t Tell You. Time to gather the impressions, sit with the characters and put the worlds on paper.
