About Iris Jacobs

Iris Jacobs is a filmmaker, director, writer, (voice)actor, and visual artist whose work bridges the worlds of film, theatre, and cultural design. With a background in social and cultural design, she creates stories that explore human connection, identity, and transformation; often blending narrative cinema with performance and visual experimentation. As founder of Studio Iris Jacobs, she develops contemporary creations for multiple realities, from page to stage; spanning short films, feature films, theatre productions, artistic projects, music videos, and collage art. Her films have screened at international festivals, with Twin Twisters (2025) selected for the Ladies in Control Film Festival, and Conclave Clandestine (2024) earning her the Barcelona Indie Award for Best Female Director. Her earlier work, Fight Flight Free (2019), was showcased globally, including at Craft Film Festival and Short Cuts Ontario. In addition to her own projects, Iris has contributed as an art director and production designer for numerous award-winning shorts, including Bagage, Unforgettable, Final Review, Elegy for 23, Happily Ever After (Felices Para Siempre), and The Bug. Alongside television series like Suspicious Minds (VPRO), Lekker Dan (Avro Tros), commercial films & photography for brands like Sony Playstation, Anderson, Mini Cooper, Bijenkorf, Trivago, and many more. Her visual language is deeply rooted in her multidisciplinary background: from theatre-making and cultural programming to visual arts and performance. Driven by empathy, curiosity, radical honesty, and truth, Iris approaches every project with a focus on quality, collaboration, and artistic integrity. Her mission is not only to tell stories but to create experiences that invite audiences to reflect, play, experiment, evolve, and connect.

Our philosophy

We believe storytelling is both an act of discipline and surrender. Discipline allows us to master the craft, structure, and focus needed to shape a vision. Surrender invites intuition, vulnerability, and the unexpected. When these forces meet, they create flow: a state where stories come alive beyond the page or screen, and connect with something larger than ourselves. My mission as a screenwriter, filmmaker, actor, artist, and cultural designer is to create works that invite reflection, transformation, and connection. I aim to reveal hidden layers of human experience : whether through film, theatre, experiences, or visual art, and to craft spaces where imagination and empathy can expand. My vision is to build bridges between disciplines, cultures, and audiences. I want my work to serve as both a mirror and a window: reflecting who we are, while opening pathways to who we might become.
